I had two of my ancestors in the Copiah Horse Guards from Mississippi. They were later a part of the 4th Mississippi Cavalry. From the help of others ,I've found that Captain Thomas A Graves of the 4th escorted a wagon train of supplies to Gen Sterling Price in Missouri and later fought with the 3rd Missouri cavalry at the battle of Corith where he was killed. Can anyone tell me about these units? Such as the weapons they would have carried, uniforms worn ,etc. Does anyone know of any pictures of these units that exist?

Best of luck in your search. I had a ancestor of the 8th Missouri Cavalry of Marmaduke's Brigade. Tough to find pics of that group in action (I have seen none, but have seen pics of some of the men post war). I can't find any reference to uniform or weapons. I have seen mount and saddle info. At any rate, you get the idea.
Wish I could help more. Brent
