Good evening, I have an old copy of Poinsett's Cavalry Tactics for Reenactors by Michael J. Riggleman, and would like to get some more copies for our unit. Does anyone know if this is still in print and if so, who sells it? And if not, does anyone know how to contact Michael? Much obliged, Alan

Alan, Did you ever get your copies of Riggleman's Poinsetts? I wrote him and got a pdf copy of it, with permission to reprint as many as needed. If you are interested, let me know and I will send it along.

I'd also recommend the reprint of Patten's Cavalry Drill and Sabre Exercise, which was an 1861 condensation of Poinsett's schools of the trooper, platoon, and squadron. It adds context to Riggleman since Poinsett's itself has not been reprinted. Heartland House did a very nice repro version of Patten's.
Are there any DVD or computer animated sources that demonstrate those moves described in the school of the trooper? I seem to be more of a visual learner and when I first started, the very old (DOS program) animated school of the soldier helped me out tremendously. Anything out there like that?
