I am a member of the Colorado Mounted Rangers/Colorado Rangers, a volunteer group that has been around since the late '30s (1930s, that is). We were originally called the Jefferson Rangers (the first law enforcement group in the Colorado Territory, founded in 1861).
Many of us are mounted, my wife and I included (one Tennessee Walker, one Paint, and one 3/4 Draft horse). We are looking forward to our 150th next year, and in 2012 to participation in the 150th anniversary of the battle of Glorieta Pass.

Old Fort Griffin Memorial Regiment normally participated in Glorieta Pass. This group is headquartered in Texas but has two companies in Colorado, Company K 4th US Cavalry in Southern Colorado and San Luis Valley area, and Company C 4th US Cavalry in the Front Range Area. The group also does impressions of 5th Texas cav for Civil War.
