In preparing to do a living history event set to a western cavalry campain, the supply list states that multiple mule trains were loaded with 90 days worth of grain for the mounts.
How was period grain packaged, and what exactly did they consider grain. I found it interesting, and if possible would like to show the visitors what 90 days of grain would look like for near a 1,000 mounts. Were they in burlap sacks, bins, or some other type? Thanks so much for the help ahead of time.
